I've been following the Rowan discussion on CN. Very pretty, but a bit more than my budget can bear right now. Since I have a Nexus II, I'd probably skip the Nexus DSC.

I was involved in doing some of the "beta testing" of the Rowan AZ100 mount. It is a superbly engineered mount and very, very capable.

For my own personal heavy duty alt-az mount I went for a T-Rex though. Production of this excellent mount ceased in 2016 when the sole engineer in Japan who made them by hand, sadly passed away.

The Rowan AZ100 is of a similar quality but to carry my 130mm F/9.2 refractor would need two counterweights boosting the overall mount weight to over 17kg (not including the tripod). The T-Rex does the same job at 8.5kg with no need for counterweights.
I'm a visual observer based in the South West of England.
