NEW - Unistellar eVScope, claims to provide the color of DSOs

#1

Post by helicon »

I just came across this website....the Unistellar eVscope.

https://shop.unistellaroptics.com/evsco ... -landing-1

They claim to offer enhanced optics and image intensification revealing color in nebulae, galaxies and other deep sky objects. Price is $2,999. Just wondering if anyone has run across them before, endorsed by SETI according to the website. Check out the link and post your opinions. Is it too good to be true

I learned that there was an earlier thread on this topic....and yes, it is too good to be true in the final analysis...

yes, There have been few people talking about it here, i think it's worse than the overpriced stellina scope.the designers talk about it like it was the first ever telescope ever made and its revolutionary in seeing in the stars... it's simply an lcd in an eyepiece..

a part of me wants this to fail so we don't have overpriced junk cough cough (apple), and part of me wants it to succeed to boast the astronomy hobby/ community and furthermore in the career field paths for the newer generation.

I suppose that if one of the tech giants wants to get into astronomy - google, apple, or amazon they might try this kind of approach. For that reason I hope they don't. Facebook buying Oculus for $2 billion is this kind of over-reach.
