Ouch that's $400 per session. I would have kept it for later and I would have taken it to dark sites for some adventures. What a shame. I mean, what about the Grand Canyon star party or the RTMC, gorgeous places not that far away, the Sierras are only 4 hours, nice for a few days of vacation. Hopefully the C11 will work better, but there are only 2 planets worth watching during very few days per year and most of the planet joy is in astrophotography. I hope it will work better for you, good luck with your future plans.

It is a temporary pause. Once I move to the dark sky site I likely will buy another big Dob. Just not practical for now Henk.

Reverse aperture fever is apparently quite common. And you can always amp back up later if the circumstances suit. Not in the same league, but I find I'm grabbing my ST80 about 4x as often as my ST120. Wondering if I should sell the 120 and get a little Mak for lunar.

Home skies are crap and my nearest dark(er) site is about an hour away, so I'm not going out there all that often.

I haven't really thought about a Mak - maybe that's a good idea for a new scope!

I understand. I am like that with my Harley. I'm getting older. My riding buddy (my son) moved away. It sits in the garage, seldom used. I keep trying to summon up the courage to let it go, but so far . . . there it sits.

Sorry to hear that you are not a fellow Obsessioneer anymore Michael. But yes they do take up a lot of space, although i think the compact takes less space than the classic. But every time I manage to get it to dark site I am hooked again and it's place is safe again!
