New Antares Refractors

#1

Post by Lady Fraktor »

I really like Antares refractors, they did possess a few quirks at times but nothing that could not be corrected and they were always a good price in comparison to similar offerings from other manufacturers.
The older Elite series used a doublet that was "Vixen Spec" and delivered excellent performance. My Antares Elite 105mm f/15 will not be parting from me while I am still drawing breath :)

It seems Antares is slowly getting back into manufacturing/ rebranding(?) a few refractors though without any advertisements.
There is a 80mm that is available in Canada and a 93mm f/11 and 105mm f/9.5 available from Rother Valley Optics.

The 105mm intrigues me as the specifications along with the "high spec" lens makes it a physical match to the Vixen A105M which is a incredible refractor though 2x the price of this offering.
I have not found any reviews of it yet but it will be interesting to read how it performs.

Hopefully Antares will be returning to selling unique refractors again in the future :)

152mm C.png
They were nice refractors :)
The 152mm now exists as the Explore Scientific version made by HiOptic.
