What can you say besides WOW!! A 300mm Ha refractor
Actually I would need 162.000,00 to cover DPH as well, I will pay the shipping myself ;)

You do not think my Vixen Porta mount would be enough? :lol:
I think mounting it on a DDM is a bit of overkill in the mount department since their smallest mount carries 100kg

Nice but if you go big in solar observing you need adaptive optics, and therefore a reflector. At the RTMC there was a presenter from Big Bear who was doing the adaptive optics for the scope they have there. It was a great presentation, the effect of AO is amazing. See http://www.bbso.njit.edu/ .

I need to ask my club if they will buy it for us kiddies to play with 😆

Actually, they do have over $150,000.00 worth of scopes at the observatory, so maybe they won't laugh at me so much 😆

Hydrogen Alpha viewing and imaging is at one wavelength so a Newtonian would have no advantage that I can think of. Actually if the CO is over 20% it would reduce contrast and resolution.
Perhaps I am wrong though? :think:

A reflector would only offer an advantage if you included a deformable mirror apparatus and an adaptive optics system.
