Looks like a really interesting idea. I might try a home-made version. I made a single-arm version a few years back, and it worked OK, but this looks like a better thought out way to do it.

One of the bino observing books, maybe one of Patrick Moore's, mention these. He didn't especially laud their merits, just wrote that they're another option.

Could be worth a try IMO.

Talking about eye guards, I recently got the Bino Bandit eye shade and find it very useful for viewing from lighted areas like my balcony.

Talking about eye guards, I recently got the Bino Bandit eye shade and find it very useful for viewing from lighted areas like my balcony.

I checked that out a while back, but the prohibitive postage from the US put me off: from memory they were more expensive to post than they were worth... Unusually, Alpine Innovations have a set price for overseas shipping, and this is way below a lot of other US companies.

(Plus, I get enough "nerd" comments from my better half anyway! age: my red head-light is my "nerd light", even though she steals it for late night gardening... )

"Exploring the Night Sky with Binoculars", Patrick Moore, 4th Edition, Cambridge Univ. Press. Picture on page 14 and on page 12, he writes that they are "certainly effective".
