Re: Ordered A New Pair of Binoculars And Mount
I got a nice lucky bonus this week for a second parallelogram mount. I find objects with my 20x80 binoculars on it's parallelogram mount. When I want a wider view I move over to the Levenhuk 7x50 binoculars mounted on the Orion Tritech II tripod. Sometimes I can look at a wide glorious part of the night sky for as long as 15 minutes. With these two new purchases I will be able to sit and enjoy a much wider view. The Levenhuk binoculars have a 5.7 degree field of view with an apparent field of 39.9 degrees.. The Resolux binoculars have a 7.5 degree field of view and an apparent field of 52.5 degrees with individual focus. For local observations I will make a pair of 40mm

Re: Ordered A New Pair of Binoculars And Mount
The Orion mount and tripod are easy to use. I would like a thicker screw that attaches the tripod to the mount. I would also like to be able to remove the weight from the balance bar. The weight can be removed but one would need a wrench to do so. However, the whole setup is not that heavy. So I will be leaving the tripod attached to the mount. Left click the images.

Just unscrew the weight and reduce the length of the tripod legs to their minimum. Then tighten the tension knobs with the whole setup strait as I have in one of the images. Left click the images.

How are you enjoying those Orion 16x80 ED's?Refractordude wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 9:07 pmJust unscrew the weight and reduce the length of the tripod legs to their minimum. Then tighten the tension knobs with the whole setup strait as I have in one of the images. Left click the images.
I have the 20x80 in my shopping cart at the moment, just itching to pull the trigger
To me it seems you can't go wrong at $329 for 80mm ED glass!

Re: Ordered A New Pair of Binoculars And Mount
Enjoyed them very much the few times out at my dark sites. Using a parallelogram mount is a big plus. I can sit, relax, and really meditate into an object. Looking forward to your first light report on the Orion 20x80 ED. There are a few reviews at cloudynights on the Orion ED 20x80 binoculars. Who are you buying them from?Ylem wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 8:25 pmHow are you enjoying those Orion 16x80 ED's?Refractordude wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 9:07 pmJust unscrew the weight and reduce the length of the tripod legs to their minimum. I really wanted to get an 80ED frac, but they are always backordered and cost another $200 bucks!

Glad you're having fun RD. I've been using mine quite a bit whilst the telescope is packed away, with elbows on the arms of the sunlounger! Might have a look at a parallelogram mount though.
