The only problem I have now is the tripod. It was fine for the 15x70's but not so for this one. The 15x70 weigh 1.3 Kg whereas the 20x80's weigh 3.3 Kg - just a tad heavier

I've not yet ventured out to try my binos on my vintage (40 yr old) pan head tripod. But perhaps if the weather is agreeable tomorrow - the tripod is supposedly rated for a 20# ( 9kg ) capacity so it should be more than adequate to the task?

I've gotthe Faepoint UBM swing hinge comming in Tues. The UBM was on Backorder. It should ship Tues.

The BT100XL ED loks good But selling my wife on the idea of the NEED to replicate every thing in my eyepiece collection just would't float.
One thing I like aboutit and the Std. Bt100 is the picatinny rail for a finder.

Thanks for the post, I believe I need to align my SkyMaster 20x80's and my Tasco 10x50's as well. I think they just need tweaked because I can't help but think everytime I look through them both that the night sky images could be better!

I've got some Brunton (Cheap China made BAK7 prism 10x50s that are showing double images on Jupiter. They might as well be the lab rat set for alignment trials and training.

With the price of good binoculars in todays market I would look at the APM or Oberwerks.

Well, yea... A parallelogram mount looks nice and many like them but they are expensive and you still have to look up.

I swear by my Tiltall tripod with a 44 lbs. capacity, photographer-designed rock solid old fashioned tripod, very affordably priced. I got mine for $35 at the RTMC (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... 4ee3527b0c). You will love it for daytime use too.

Because I get tired of looking up my next pair of binos will definitely be 90 degree semi-APO but not the expensive ones you linked, Teleskop Service has more affordable ones.

To be honest I have to wait until the pea soup clears, I have a ton of gear and I sometimes wonder if will ever see a starry sky again from my home...

The legs have 4 segments with clips, the Tiltall has 3 with screws. The capacity is 9 lbs whereeas the Tiltall has 40 lbs. It is hard to convey the point, you have to see it and feel it. I have a photographer friend with a fancy carbon fiber tripod who is jealous.

Watch out on the weight on that hook. Most are spring supported and won't take more than 10# or so

I actually have two 5lb ankle weights my son gave me that I usually put on my tripods. As you can see it can be attached to the tripod hook

Finally! New binos on new tripod (Celestron TrailSeeker Tripod). BTW, this tripod is excellent for binos. Those are the two weights I previously mentioned. Unfortunately the cloud gods still aren't co-operating :mad:

Glad to hear your collimation worked out. My somewhat-collimated Skymasters have gone wacky on me again. Not sure if I can collimate again because it felt like one screw was as far as it could go last time and that was not quite enough to my eye.

Geez, I just looked at the specs on the Obie 20x80s. 18 pounds?? Ay carumba.
