Portable parallelogram?
Hi everyone,
I want to find something that would be easy to carry around as a good mount for small to medium binoculars. I have a Farpoint that I use with my 25x100, but it’s not exactly grab-and-go. Anything more portable that I could pair with a tripod as a carry-around option? Is the Orion Paragon Plus a good option? Anything else I should look at?
Thanks in advance

Re: Portable parallelogram?
I would say the Paragon Plus is definitely much lighter and more portable than the Farpoint. I have both. I use the Paragon with the Skymaster 15 x 70’s and it handles them really well. Very light and easy to move around.

Re: Portable parallelogram?
I am looking at the feasibility of this P mount. https://www.ebay.com/itm/362423934246 It looks good and light because it is made of Corian. I want to mount my Obie 10.5 X 70 (7 lbs) and my SkyMaster 25 X 100 (10 lbs). Plus the price is very attractive.
Cheers,
JT

Re: Portable parallelogram?
Thank you folks, much appreciated. Looks like I may have some good options at the $150 price point. I just want something I can walk with a few yards around the house, where I can get a better horizon. Probably to use with my in-coming Oberwerk 10x50 Ultras (yes, I have a problem, is there an Astro version of AA?)
Alternatively I could just go with monopod and trigger grip. What’s everyone using for this kind of setup?

Re: Portable parallelogram?
Sidenote: I've never bought anything off EBay. Is there a way of telling if a seller is reputable versus shady? How about returns for defective merchandise? TFAI.

Re: Portable parallelogram?
2 things you can do when buying off eBay. Number one, check how many sales the seller has and what his rating is, his positive percentage rating. If he has more than a thousand sales then he's reputable if he has a rating above 98% he's very reputable. Secondly, make sure he complies with the eBay SquareTrade program. This is how you can get your money back and deal with returns if you can't do it directly with the seller.
Cheers,
