Interesting to see they list three Opticrons including 20x80s. I had never heard of the brand until a few months ago, but I'm becoming more impressed with them as time goes on. OTOH, my experience with them is quite limited, so YMMV.

Greetings,
So, prior to reading this article, I picked up a pair of Vortex Crossfire HD 12x50 binoculars - once I break 'em in, I'll write a review - but this article's commentary appears to be a good start! (although it's for the 10x50 version) I didn't get those, because I have also recently picked up...

a highly recommended pair of Atlas Optics Eagle Owl 10x50 porro prism binoculars; they are FMC, waterproof, fogproof, O-ring sealed, alloy frame, very high quality, and come with an unlimited, transferable lifetime warranty - for only a hundred bucks! Wow. They are also very well balanced for porro prisms, and feel lighter than they are (31 oz, just a tick under 2 lbs). I use a binocular harness for these in the day, and a tripod mount for astronomy.

I find 10x50 to be an excellent all-purpose binocular IF you tend to slant more towards astronomy as part of the "all-purpose". My all-purpose includes DAY (birding in day and dusk), NIGHT (Astronomy), and Sports.

I have many birding binoculars which don't quite cut it for more than casual astronomy use - 8x32, 8.5x44 and 10x42 - all exceptional bins, but they balance more toward DAY and don't reach quite as deep as I'd like for my Astronomy usage.

Advice: Experiment! binoculars are an intensely personal product, and what others recommend may or may not fit for you (which is why I have 12 pairs!) Super fun hobby, enjoy it...

Thanks for the interesting link Clinton.
Not that I agree with it all, but interesting none the less.

I looked over the article, then linked to their "all our binocular reviews" where not a single model reviewed earned less than a four stars (out of five) rating.
Hmm, must all be advertisers.

"10 of the best binoculars for astronomy in 2020" - so...what happens on January 1, 2021 (Assuming we make it there.....) - do they all spontaneously combust?

Or does 20201 get a new set of advertisers?

I imagine they all go poof and it will depend on who's advertising?
