Great New Finder For Binocular's Center Bar, Maybe

#1

Post by Refractordude »

This laser is great, but there is a legal issue. Do not want to accidentally aim this laser in the path of an aircraft. Now I am thinking of just gorilla gluing a red dot finder on top of the mount. Anyone else using a laser as a finder? Left click the images.

Personally I am of the mind that laser pointers should be used to point out objects when doing outreach, not as a finder.
There are some that do use them as finders though.
Most complaints are the batteries do not last long and the colder temperatures affect them as well.

What I like about the laser is I can aim my telescope right at were the object was located. I can do that with the red dot finder but it may take two to three times going back to the red dot finder on the 20x80 binoculars. Still much fun.

Did not get much feed back on using a laser. Well I have decided to glue a red dot finder on top. It will point to the object, but sometimes I lose the place of the object when walking over to my telescope. The laser stays on target.

Same here, the planes seem to come right out of Sagittarius towards me.

I need a way to attach a red dot that won't hurt the binos.

Much better than the flimsy plastic or thin aluminium holders included with a lot of binoculars.
