Ordered A New Pair of Binoculars And Mount

#1

Post by Refractordude »

Just ordered the two so I can sit down and view a larger area of the night sky. Will let all know how things go right after the first observation. Left click the images.

Congratulations on the new equipment! I keep putting off buying a parallelogram for my 20 x 80 binos, just not enough money and too little time!

I got a nice lucky bonus this week for a second parallelogram mount. I find objects with my 20x80 binoculars on it's parallelogram mount. When I want a wider view I move over to the Levenhuk 7x50 binoculars mounted on the Orion Tritech II tripod. Sometimes I can look at a wide glorious part of the night sky for as long as 15 minutes. With these two new purchases I will be able to sit and enjoy a much wider view. The Levenhuk binoculars have a 5.7 degree field of view with an apparent field of 39.9 degrees.. The Resolux binoculars have a 7.5 degree field of view and an apparent field of 52.5 degrees with individual focus. For local observations I will make a pair of 40mm aperture mask.

Congratulations, I have that Paragon tripod, it's great.
I probably should also grab that mount for my binos.

Have fun :)
I love binocular astronomy.

The Resolux is a quality BA8 binocular. I have the 10x50 version. They are rugged and they produce very clean images. You will never sell them! But if you do, let me know!
TELESCOPES: GSO 10" Dob, Orion XT8i . BINOS: 15x70, 12x50, 10x50, 8x40.
EYEPIECES: 2" - APM's. 1.25" - APM's, Morphei & BHZ + TV P2.

Just did a shoot out between the Resolux 7x50 and the Levenhuk Sherman 7x50 binoculars. The Resolux are much better at everything binoculars do. However, the Levenhuk is much lighter and good for hand held use. The Resolux are built like a tank and best used with a tripod. What really blew me away is how much clearer/brighter and wider the view is with the Resolux. The Levenhuk will now be used for peaks of the night sky from the bathroom window.

The Orion mount and tripod are easy to use. I would like a thicker screw that attaches the tripod to the mount. I would also like to be able to remove the weight from the balance bar. The weight can be removed but one would need a wrench to do so. However, the whole setup is not that heavy. So I will be leaving the tripod attached to the mount. Left click the images.

Here is an image of the mount and reduced tripod attached. I will remove the binocular adapter which is just two screws. Left click the image.

I have a correction to make. The weight that came with the mount can be unscrewed counter clockwise.
