EQ6 moving in an unusual way
I have EQ6 with skywatcher ED80 and Williams optics star 70 piggy backed, two cameras and an off axis guided. I am relatively new to this game, retired so am able to try to learn fast? There seems to be an unusual motion when I try to slew. Best to explain it this way. I have a light panel fitted to the wall of my observatory. I can and have set the park coordinates to that light panel position and the mount will go there after some unusual motion. As an example of the behaviour....Say I drive through EQMOD the mount about -5 degrees off the light panel in azimuth and then say park to the light panel. I would expect the mount to simply return by 5 degrees to the light panel. What it does is move away even further say about to about -25 to -40 degrees or more, then stops momentarily, thinks about what it has done and needs to do then returns correctly to the light panel. Is this normal behaviour? Presumably not...so how can I stop this peculiar motion. Any ideas would be welcome.

Re: EQ6 moving in an unusual way
It might be that the mount is moving to try to take out any backlash and 'approaching' the target from the preferred direction?
I dont have an EQ6 but my CGX when first started up and moves to it's 'switch' position goes past it a little bit then backs up to the right position. It also has a 'preferred' approach direction.
Since they use the same Nexstar hand controller this 'may' be the case. Might want to check the 'anti backlash' settings.
If it is centering targets, and tracking well I would not worry about it.
If it becomes problematic, and the mount was 'used' may want to set the hand controller back to factory defaults and start from scratch.

Mount: Celestron CGX-L
Scope: 130mm f7 APO
