Sky-Watcher HEQ5 Pro

Post by Kerry C. »

Ok a couple of questions regarding the Sky-Watcher HEQ5 mount.
Have you done the Rowen belt drive conversion and if so was it worth it?
Do I really need the belt drive?
How is it for guiding?
I think I can get the belt drive for $125.00 US.
I can get a new HEQ5 for $1,150.00 US.
That brings me up to 1,275.00 US.
Thoughts?

Hi Kerry,

i´ve installed the Rowan belt gear in my HEQ.
Easy DIY-Job.
I can recommend this upgrade absolutely.
Slewing is now much more quiet,
and the autoguider has an easier job :-))
