HDX110 and PHD2

#1

Post by tufstars »

Hello,

If anyone can help me get these two to work together I would be eternally grateful.

I have the Orion HDX110 and I bought the Shoestring Astronomy USB2EQ5 cable to connect directly to the RJ-45 port (handset port) on the mount.

I downloaded the SkyWatcher drivers from ASCOM.

When I go to run PHD2, the error I get is a COMPORT # empty. I set the COM number (known to me) and still no connection.

Now PHD2 doesnt "see" the EQ8 or HDX110 mount. I have to select the SkyWatcher general hub driver.
I dont know if this is the problem or not.

When I dig further into the USB ports with a COM/PORT viewer program, the USB PORT 4 (physical) I am using says

[COM 4} : USB Serial Converter

So am I supposed to be using a serial adapter and plugging the USB cable via adpater into the serial port?

I can get the cameras to connect all day, the mount just does not want to do anything.

Please help!!!

Cheers

Hello Ryan

In most instances the USB cable connects into the Hand Controller and that plugs into the mount. Not the USB directly into the mount.

Does the USB2EQ5 cable plug into the bottom of the Hand Controller?

Regards

Graeme
