Meade lx85 mounts

Post by Tomcat »

Anyone use these mounts, can't seem to find much info even on YouTube. Looking for something for my 8se and maybe later adding a meade lx85 5" refractor. These are on sale for $699.99 until Dec 12

Hello Tomcat, the LX85 is still a fairly new mount so not a lot of reviews yet I expect.
As I mentioned at the other site, the LX85 seems to be an updated LXD-75 which even with its quirks was a good workhorse mount overall.
The payload capacity as with Celestron, Skywatcher and Orion is a little bit optimistic as usual.
I noticed that Meade has the refractor/ mount packaged together, would this not be more economical to purchase together or were you looking at an ED/ apochromat refractor later?

Dont want to spend that much right now for the combo, this would work for a mount for my 8se now then add the refractor latter. More interested in info on this but seems to be close no info except from Meade. Someone out there has to have some field reviews of this mount. Thanks again

I have found a couple of small reviews but none state what telescope they have mounted.
All agree it is a good direct competitor to Celestron AVX at a slightly cheaper price.

I've seen some guided images using this mount with a mounted 8"SCT on a facebook group "meade telescope user group" Very impressed with the images, and the owner was very happy with the mount.
