CEM 60 Legs, Which One?

#1

Post by JayTee »

I'm about to pull the trigger on my new CEM 60 and am unsure which tripod/pier I should purchase. Here are the two choices:
https://optcorp.com/products/ioptron-ie ... ly-8021acc
https://optcorp.com/products/ioptron-tri-pier

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
JT

The pier will be much more stable though likely a bit heavier, I would get the pier between the two though.

Base should be as solid as you can afford. The pier would be the way to go. More stable.

The pier/tripod. Worth the extra for those bigger scopes, and the extra height you can get with it, pretty sure you can slide the centre up and down a bit.

I went with the tri-pier w/rolling case, the extra cost is worth it in my opinion. It's well made, adjustable in height and rock solid. The case is nice but completely optional, and you can always pick that up separately at a later date if you wanted to.

Thank you, Warp!

Nothing is leaving China yet so I have the brand new mount head sitting in its shiny new case in my garage awaiting the tri-pier tripod. I'm supposed to be notified as soon as the shipment leaves the manufacturer in China. Fingers crossed. I'm also hoping to get my manufacturers warranty extended since the mount is unusable with a tripod. I took delivery of the mount a month ago!

Cheers,
JT
