I was wondering if I would need an extra counterweight for the CEM70 to use my Celestron C-11 (Just for Planetary initially to get started)? I know I will need one when I start some DSO on it, but I just want to be ready for planetary use as soon as it arrives. It comes with a (21 Lb/9.5 kg) counter weight. I just don't want it to be terribly off balance where it could damage the motors. So not worried about tracking initially.
I am using a Rigel Nstep and ZWO385 with a Antaras 1.5x Barlow along with an ZWO ADC. And the tripod is that new Literock 1.75"
Thx all

On my CEM 60 with my 6"RC with a 70mm guide scope on top with 2 cameras and an extra 1/2 lb for lateral scope balance (dec axis) (maybe 18 - 20lbs), my 22lb (10 Kg) counterweight is used not even halfway down the counterweight shaft. That's why I'm saying I don't think so.
I was kind of figuring that. Also my EQ6-R should be arriving along with the Literoc tripod tomorrow. I am Still waiting on the mount head to be back in stock for them to ship it. It can be another week+ or so.
Anyway, I was just thinking that I can measure the length of the EQ6 R bar. When I put my C11 on the EQ6-R, I need to use the Extension bar and put the weights down a bit more (but it has a much shorter bar then the ioptron I believe). At least from the photos.

My CEM 60 counterweight shaft is 16 3/4" (42.5cm) of useable length.

That is probably the same shaft. I should be good then since the EQ6-R retractable one is about 11" I think and I only needed a few inches more, that is why I used the extender.
Thanks again JT
