iOptron Snuggling--Not A Convenient Arrangement

Decent enough weather to warrant setting up the mount. I got the Tripier tripod all set up and ready for the mount head. I tried, and tried, and tried to get the mount out of its case. You need three hands to do this. It is nestled so snuggly inside the case, the case comes with it when you try to lift it out. A second person was needed to hold the case down while I pulled the mount out. Granted that may be good for securing the mount to prevent damage, but it is a PITA when you're trying to set up.

Not a bad problem to have.

Wonder if you can put a towel down on the edge of a table (to accommodate the case lid) and invert the case, setting the mount onto the towel?

Of course, it will likely loosen a bit over time, I suppose.

I like the case, it does provide a secure resting place for the mount head, but there is one other issue and that is for the mount head to fit in the case correctly, you have to put the altitude back to 0 degrees so I lose my altitude setting every time I put it in it's case.

These are just growing pains,

Maybe heavy duty Saran Wrap or wax paper? Might reduce the sliding friction to where it's easier to get out. My other thought was cut plastic file folders to fit on a couple of the sides of the cutout if there's room. (I use plastic folders for furniture sliders. Much cheaper than the glides at HoPo.)

Lay a wide ribbon across the opening before placing the mount back in the case.
When you want to remove the mount hold the two ribbon ends in one hand and hold the case with the other.
