Celestron CG-4 Vs. Orion Skyview Pro
Of these two mounts which can carry the most weight. Both manufactures claim 20 pounds payload capacity. However, can one carry a heavier payload than the other.

Re: Celestron CG-4 Vs. Orion Skyview Pro
They are essentially the same mount and you will likely find the payload is actually the same at 20lbs max.
A lot of sites will claim a couple of pounds more capacity to hype their mount.
These are both made by Synta one for Skywatcher/ Celestron and the other for Orion

Re: Celestron CG-4 Vs. Orion Skyview Pro
The SVP can carry a bit more, It is basically a CG5 class mount.
Take a close look at the Mount head on the Orion Astroview, that mount (with exception of the tripod) is Orion's version of the CG4.
Do a search for a CG5 and you will notice it's the SVP. Infact they use the same drive motors.
And the Astroview and CG4 share the same drive motors.
