Purchasing tube rings, and/or a dovetail bar will allow you to mount it on any of the newer mounts.alphonsus wrote: ↑Sat Feb 08, 2020 7:22 pm Hi, Ylem,
Which C8 OTA are you discussing? I've got an original grey 1998(ish) Nexstar 8 - not 8i, 8 SE or 8 anything else. The mount has no AUX sockets so all of the more interesting accessories are impossible to connect.
I'm wondering if I can attach the OTA to a more modern mount, such as the SE, and gain this functionality. Do you have any thoughts?

Alph

I hadn't considered that method - I was wondering if the mountings were directly compatible. Thanks for the alternative possibility. I think the C8 has a dovetail bar and I suspect the design will be the same as on newer tubes. Tube rings will always work, however.
