AVX RA Slew Limits

#1

Post by jazzin »

I am having problems getting my AVX mount to perform a merdian flip and believe it has something to do with the RA east/west slew limits. I messed with the default values and didn't write them down. Now that I have changed them and found my mount won't perform a meridian flip like it was before I messed with it, I want to set it back to defaults but can't remember what values it was set at. I read online that the defaults are -6 for RA east limits and -6 for RA west limit which is fine. Problem is I can't figure out how to switch from a positive number to a negative number. Can anyone help me with this?

I'm going off of memory here, but it's either the logo button, the one below the seven button, or the menu (the 7) button. If it's not either one of these let me know.

Cheers,

I tried pressing the Logo button to see if that would change it to negative but it didn't. I also tried the menu button and that didn't work either.

Thanks

Jat Tee,

Another question I have is does the AVX automatically know when to do the Meridian Flip? Ever since I messed with some of the settings, it seems like it doesn't want to do the meridian flip on its own anymore

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

To my knowledge there is no automatic meridian flip built into the AVX mount and hand controller (HC). You can manually effect a meridian flip once the object goes past the meridian, and if you are still tracking on it, then re-enter the object in the HC and select enter. That should cause the mount to do the meridian flip.

Cheers,
JT

Agreed - the scope will continue to track until it hits the limit (or the tripod :)). Once past the meridian, a goto to the object will cause the mount to do the flip.
