Suggestions for small guide scope

#1

Post by graywmj5 »

HI,

I am struggling with my guide scope combination. My main scope is a 70mm Quad, I am using the ZW01224MC and the ZWO miniscope. I really struggle focusing the mini scope, and find the combination very frustrating.

Could someone suggest an alternative guide scope combination for a small scope?

Thanks, Bill

I found mine on Craigslist. A $10 70mm f/5.7 doublet refractor. It works well after a slight focuser mod. Just about any small 50 - 80mm frac will do. The lower the f-number the better.

Cheers,

do you not reach focus at all ?, typicaly the moon is a good way to focus for a guide scope, bright object, usualy gets in the fov, easy to fine tune for detail .

going the other route looking for average or dim stars to focus on becomes a pain ..
