basic connection for two ASI cameras

#1

Post by graywmj5 »

Hi All,

I am sure this question has been asked numerous times, so I apologize in advance!

I am attempting to set up PHD2 , and am trying to use my ASI1224 as the guide camera. I have it plugged into the back of my ASI183MC Pro.
Device manager sees both cameras.

To this point, I have not been able to pick the connection for PHD2 to find the guide camera. The choices i see available are ASI1, ASI2, and ZWO ASI camera.

Also, since I am on the topic, would the mount connection be ASCOM Generic ?

Thanks in advance for a pointer on this.

First off, do you have all the appropriate ASCOM drivers for your gear (the cameras and the mount) loaded onto your computer? After you are sure the drivers are loaded, start up POTH and see if ASCOM sees both of your cameras, if so, then PHD2 will also see them. If this does not fix your issue, come back for more troubleshooting.

Cheers,

Hmm.... Right next to the camera dropdown, where it says ASI camera, do you see a tiny icon that looks like a sideways "Y"? If so, click that and you can select between the two cameras.

Good Luck.

Thanks for your replys!

I didn't find the "click" that let's me select the camera, so I am okay on the camera now.

I am still not clear on the proper connection for the mount. Is it necessary to use the J11 connections, or can it connect straight from the camera.

In either case, what is the proper selection for the camera mount on phd2? I am not sure I have ever chosen the right one.

Thanks, Bill

Bill,

We need to know what equipment you are using (not just the cameras) before we can give you any educated guesses as to what problem you are experiencing.

Most everyone on these forums puts their gear into their signature so questions like the above don't need to happen.

Cheers,
