Eyepiece transportation

Since my telescope came with only uncoated Ramsden and Huygenian eyepieces, I started buying Plossl EP (a small set of only 4, 10 and 20 mm) and two Barlow lenses (2x and 3x).
My question is: How sensible are these types of EP and lenses? Can I carry them in a plastic bag where they roll against each other (with the plastic caps on) or do I have to carry them surrounded by foam?

It depends where you are taking the eyepieces. I would put the caps on and separate them with foam if you taking them in some sort of case or bag. Then they will not be effected.

Not sure where to purchase something like this in Lisbon. These types of cases are typically very affordable and will hold many eyepieces and other accessories that you may need.

Anything can be used for a eyepiece case, a fishing tackle box makes a good one is you cannot find a foam filled case locally.
Pelican or HPRC style cases will give a bit more protection.

Having a small bit of separation between the eyepieces will prevent them from damage or lens being misaligned to a certain extent.

Hi Marcelo,

I use a plastic tool case for a drill I got about 7 years ago. I bought some of that "pluck foam" at a hobby store and made an eyepiece case. The case measures just under 13" X 13" (33 X 33cm's) and 3" deep (7.6cm). Not all my lenses fit into it, but the ones I use the most do.

I put some yellow foam on the opposite side; it serves to keep a seal when closed, and is a good place for my lenses when observing as they stand out on it.

I do Lego constructions so I have some boxes like this:

Putting caulking tape inside is enough? Or do I really need to make sure the eyepieces don't move?

As long as they do not move to much they will be alright.

I just bought a waterproof plastic Apache pluck foam case from Harbor. It was $15 and holds 6 EPs plus filters, which is plenty for me. I had been using a repurposed foam lined aluminum briefcase-like thing but it wasn't deep enough for my SLVs.
