These phone cameras are getting powerful…
After cleaning the indecent amount of dust that had settled in my primary I gave it a go and made some star tests to check collimation.
Since I was in the neighborhood I decided to test the phone camera in M42. Here is what I got:
app.php/gallery/image/2588/source
app.php/gallery/image/2589/source
Quite decent for a single frame directly from the eyepiece, right?

Re: These phone cameras are getting powerful…
Nice images. Curious what the exposure time was. I have a google pixel 4xl which comes with a night-sight feature in the camera which can take images for four seconds. So far I have taken pictures of constellations. I tried on the moon and I could not get a decent image, same for DSO 's. I surmise you are doing something different. Folks are always posting phone/eyepiece pictures in the Facebook Dobsonian group.

Re: These phone cameras are getting powerful…
I used and IPhone 11 that has night mode too. The exposure time was 5 seconds. After I took the picture I just increase the color saturation and took out some of the brightness and it got to this result.
I believe this night mode correct some of the drag automatically also…
