My first outreach
Bliss School local outreach - 5 & 6 year olds Solar System morning.
Post following the session from me:
“My thanks go to Lynsey for inviting me to work with her classes on Friday morning. We worked in outdoor classroom at Bliss Charity School modelling the Solar System (with fruit), followed by looking at how things orbit and the effects of gravity.
Despite the cold morning we all enjoyed our time together.
It was a pleasure to work with enthusiastic pupils that were engaged and polite, a real credit to the School..”
Best comments during the session, “Do you know my house?; I’m getting a puppy next week!
During the building of the pupil carrying a fruit I spoke of million and billions of kilometres, only to be told by Lynsey afterwards that they had only learnt tens and hundreds so far
I was surprised how much some had learnt one boy asked me about the Kuiper belt (not bad for a six year old)… then a girl asked me if Uranus was married to earth (astrology?), but then mentioned that Uranus spun on its side.
It was a superb morning and I have had many comments from parents thanking for taking the time. I could see doing this becoming addictive.

Re: My first outreach
Very nice Tony
I love doing outreach with children as they come up with some amazing questions.
