The main reason for picking this small target was to see how far I can push plate solve & guiding. La Luna was centre stage in the areas I had an interest in, so I pushed away from the searchlight to run a test image. This is 40 180 sec subs on my normal set up. One minor change I have now used a wired connection to my extender and that gives me a really stable signal from the ASIAir in my lounge some 100 feet away from the observation spot.
I was able to setup, polar align, plate solve and centre in 45 minutes last night. Then back to the coffee and Missus, to occasionally monitor 2 hours of subs.
I’m pleased with the round stars, clearly with a bit of practice I can push the AVX out to 5 minute subs should I want/need too.
m102 is not a great target for my refractor setup. I will come back to it with my SE6 SCT some day.
You must have nice skies to be thinking of 5 minute subs!
My 90 second subs in my lp have a mean adu of just under 3k and I am thinking of going to 60 seconds.
Very successful test! I know that it feels good!
