Star tracker tripod mount?

#1

Post by maceemiller »

Hi all.

So I've decided to purchase a star tracker.

I have a tripod with what I believe is a wedge on there so I don't think I need to buy a specific wedge unit for the tracker, yet after all my research I still have one question...

.....could I attatch a tracker to this tripod?
I've posted a few pictures of the tripod.

Apologies if this is an obvious answer yet I don't want to shell out on a tracker, have it delivered only to find out I need to buy more kit!

Thankyou....

Carl

It should say in the product information if the tracker has a mounting hole and what size.
Usually they are 3/8" or 1/4"

It does say 3/8 or 1/4. Im now presuming the bottom of star trackers will have a screw point, just like a DSLR.....

I now feel kinda stupid......

I had a group of people waiting to see Jupiter and the first person looked in the eyepiece and could not see anything. I looked and it was black in the view.
I then remembered I had replaced the telescopes lens cap....

Never feel stupid, we all do silly things occasionally :)

A wedge usually refers to an angled piece that you can adjust for your latitude. Since you have a tilt head on your tripod, I'd think that could take the place of a wedge.
