We all started somewhere! We are a friendly bunch! Most of your questions can be posted here, but if you are interested in Astrophotography please use the new Beginner Astrophotography forum. The response time will be much better.
I encourage beginners to stop by the below linked sub-forum to take a look at the TSS Monthly DSO Challenge. Each month we provide a short selection of DSOs in each celestial hemisphere for your pursuit. There should be something there for all observing skill levels, visual observers, imagers and those that want to try their hand at sketching. Typically there will be three objects for each hemisphere, and depending upon your location and the objects selected, you may have access to some or all of those in the opposite hemisphere from you. But you should always have access to every object listed for your home hemisphere.
So I encourage all to stop by and read through the list and add them to your regular observing plans. Some will be familiar to you and hopefully some will be new to you. Regardless they are all there to encourage you to get out under the sky and enhance your skills. Good luck and enjoy the pursuit!

Just to renew my invitation to folks, inexperienced and experienced alike, to stop by the monthly challenge at the link in the original post. I hope to see more folks participating in this program so we can collectively share our experiences in observing a small set of objects each month. So come on and join us for the fun!
