As the title suggests, my Verizon, Android 9, Moto g6 smartphone will not connect to the Celestron SkyPortal WiFi adapter using the SkyPortal app no matter what I try and yes my phone does see the adapter in the WiFi setup on my smartphone and yes it is selected when I'm trying to connect.
The SkyPortal WiFI adapter will connect to my iPad using the SkyPortal app and my laptop will connect to the SkyPortal WiFi adapter using CPWI. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to setting up WiFi things but this one has me stumped! I've also tried to connect through SkySafari Pro 6 which is on my smartphone - still no go!
With my other platforms, I configured the SkyPortal WiFi adapter so I could change from "Direct" connect to "WLAN (Access Point)" connect. This still did not help -- HELP!
I called Celestron and they just blanket said that if the SkyPortal WiFi adapter connects to your other electronics then your particular smartphone is just not compatible - HUH?
I refuse to believe this statement until one of you chimes in and says, "Yes, JT it's true. Your smartphone is the issue." I believe I'm missing a setting or something on my smartphone so it does connect. Does anybody else have this problem with connecting their Android smartphone to the SkyPortal WiFi adapter?
Hi,
Have you tried turning off your mobile data connection on your phone? I have heard from other users that their smart phones had trouble keeping the wifi connection with that setting on.
Your problem sounds a bit different, but only takes a moment to try
Good luck
Joe
