Several weeks back I saw a Meade #883 deluxe field tripod up for sale on CN for $40. I immediately snapped it up because the week prior I missed the same tripod (different seller) for $60. I love it when you lose then wind up $20 richer! I needed a new (to me) tripod because I have 2 more mounts than I have tripods. So this helps to partially solve this issue.
Anyway, it takes a while to get out to the island when you don't want to spend $150 for shipping on a $40 item. So it arrived yesterday and it is in perfect shape - so pleased. It also still has the mounting hardware for a Meade ETX scope. This means that it will function as my wedge for either of my Celestron mounts (the SLT & GT). Its real purpose is to allow me to affix my SLT mount with my new ES AR102S frac on it as a very portable G&G&G (Grab n' Go - Goto) scope, giving me a truly all-inclusive setup (ES scope, Celestron mount, and Meade tripod). Next month I travel to Jackson, Wyoming for a family vacay and it will be going along to that amazing dark sky.
