In this topic we have an Astro Tech AT 72EDII Refractor with Supercharged TS Binoviewer with a Burgess 1.9 OCA on the nose of the Binoviewer in one photo (the one with 5mm of focus travel left) and in the other photo the focuser is out at around 80mm and the 1.9 OCA is screwed into the front end of the Astro Tech 1.25 inch diagonal The scope is focused on trees around 300 yards away. In the case of the OCA on the nose of the Diagonal the magnification is incredible leading me to believe the OCA is more along the line of around a 3 instead of a 1.9. My question is how do you measure the actual magnification when you move the OCA farther out or in the light path?

Hello David, I have a formula written somewhere... you will need to know the lightpath of your binoviewer and your diagonal though.

I suspect you are well above 3x with the OCA in front of everything.

I will look for the formula and you find out the measurements :)

By direct measurements with a tape measure the the distance is between 2.75 and 3 inches shorter screwed to the front of the diagonal than it is on the nose of the Bino Viewer I know is not that precise but I can't get around the angles of the mirror in the diagonal all that well. but I would say it is closer to the 2.75 than it is the 3. or 69.85mm I hope that helps some.

What brand is the diagonal?
I will look around for some measurements tomorrow.
Time for bed!
