The width of the scope changes from the front to the end. That is the problem I am having with any kind of measurement. How much more narrow from 6.1 inches can I go before the rings are a risk. Perhaps not by much within eleven inches. If I could get this from Walmart or Amazon I would just order it. Both pay for return shipping.
Why not try wrapping felt around the end that is too large? The risk of paying for return shipping if it doesn't work is small compared to scope damage from a bad fit.Refractordude wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 8:40 pmThe width of the scope changes from the front to the end. Oh, I see. I looked at photos and can see that your scope tapers. Felt seems like a good idea unless the diameter is a lot less at the 11-inch distance from the 6.1 inch point. Have you determined that number yet? It looks like a nice product.notFritzArgelander wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 9:13 pmWhy not try wrapping felt around the end that is too large? Thought about this also.Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 8:27 am The tube is the same diameter along its length, the taper is the lens cell so the cradle would not be attaching onto it anyway.
You can make a cheap handle that goes across the top of the rings you currently have if you are looking for a lifting point.
That's what I did for my 150ST: Second dovetail on top wrapped in crafting foam.Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 8:37 pm Some people just bolt another dovetail onto the ring tops and use that as a handle.
