Nexstar wedge

I have a Nexstar 8i, which I love. I am beginning to learn astrophotography. I have looked for the wedge made for the 8i, but there are none to be found. Will the wedge made for the Nexstar 8se fit on my Nexstar 8i? Thanks

Hello and welcome to TSS.

Unfortunately your 8i is on a one-armed alt-az mount. That one arm configuration for your mount was designed to take the weight of the telescope in one particular direction. When you put that type mount on a wedge you put the mount itself into an area where it does not handle the weight distribution well, that is why these mounts are not well suited for a wedge. I'm not saying it can't be done I'm just saying that you will have more trouble than if you had a different configuration for your telescope.

An idea to consider is to de-fork the OTA and get an equatorial mount if you're serious about astro-imaging.
