What Is The Best Stargazing Android App?

#1

Post by Refractordude »

Would like to put in the name or NGC number, and then go to the object with a scan of the sky. An app that is very easy to use, and free if possible. Would like an app with a feature to remove those Zodiac images. Thanks everybody.

Good question.

Many like Sellarium, I can't believe how many there are!!
I have the Celestron one on my phone, which I believe is Sky Safari.

I am also curious of others opinions :)

Right now I am messing around with Star Walk 2 Free-Sky Map, Stars & Constellations. I really like the look of the screen. I will have to upgrade for $5.99 to put in a desired object, which is cool. However, would like opinions on star Walker 2 and other apps. Thanks

Stellarium will do all these things! I think there is a small charge for the Android version.

Searched for NGC 3628 and pointed the phone at it, without the art!

Jeff,

Stellarium and Sky Safari are two different apps from two different companies, not the same app with a different title.

Cheers,

Think I will buy the Stellarium upgrade. However, there is a problem. Can I put the pop up keyboard in night mode? Thanks all

I got these goggles a while ago. I will pop them on before doing a search with the Stellarium app. It will still be great if I can turn the pop up key board into night mode. Left click the image.
