Lid Knobs

This is an older photo of my 76mm reflector with a VEGEMITE jar lid blue tacked to one of its focusing knobs. It has been working out well. I plan on doing the same with my new 114mm reflector.
I was thinking about drilling holes around the lid and using a pencil as a lever. It might not provide much more improvement but it would create an eye poke hazard.

Great idea Donald. I'd prefer a larger lid than a poke in the eye with a sharp pencil on most days.

I notice you have a bag over the finder. Is this to protect from dust and pollen?

Keen eye THP.
The bag is a snack size Ziploc bag I believe and it is to protect from dust. I reside in a basement apartment and it is super dusty here. It is standard operating procedure for me to cover my RDFs with them.

Ha! Makes sense. I keep my telescope in the garage covered with a synthetic cloth shower curtain for the same reason. Especially pollen this time of year. Keeping track of eyepiece caps is a compulsive obsession for that reason.
