X-cell vs stock lenses.

I have the opportunity to buy 3 items from the Celestron X-cell range all 1.25 25mm, 12mm and 2 x Barlow for £100. Is this going to offer a huge edge over the stock lenses for visual on a Nexstar SE 6. I’m tempted but I've not looked through anything but stock lenses so far.

Worthwhile? Sounds like a good deal.

There are two lines of Celestron X-Cel eyepiece.
The original X-Cel were not good eyepieces and were discontinued, they were replaced with the X-Cel LX which is a good eyepiece.
If they are the first series save your money and get something else. If the second series enjoy.

I'll second Gabby. If they are X-Cel LX (see attached photo), then they will work nicely in your scope.

Great! Congrats on the new glass. 12mm will give you 1.2mm exit pupil perfect for Moon, planets and small DSOs (planetary nebula, small galaxies). 25mm will give you 2.5mm exit pupil good for the wast majority of DSOs. 2x barlow in combination with 12mm EP will give you 0.6mm exit pupil, good for splitting tight doubles.

If you don't have it yet you should pick 32-40mm Plossl for the max FOV low power views.

Yes, I need a wide FOV, but it needs to wait a while - spent out at the moment; small correction the LX Barlow is an x 3.

25mm 60 deg EP already gets you close to max FOV. 32mm or 40mm are for the lower powers and wide exit pupil.

12mm with 3x barlow will be pushing it to far for your scope. But you may find use for 25mm with 3x barlow (8.3mm EP equivalent).
