Unknown Plossls
I picked up this lot of stuff at a local antique/variety store for 20 dollars. The filters, are all Celestron, made in Taiwan, and look unused. The Meade shorty, while cosmetically rough, is in great optical condition. and, the .965 barlow, and EP are typical low quality. The plossls all cleaned up very nicely, with little signs of use. I'm guessing, most of this is late 80's to mid 90's vintage. Does anyone have an idea of the brand of Plossls these might be? None of them have a Mfg, or even country of origin. The only markings on them, are shown in the pic. The silver/black top one, has Plossl 26mm, Multi Coated, printed on it. The black set simply has PL xx, printed on them. The black ones also came in boxes, and the only marking on the box, is a sticker with Plossl xx. They seem to be of decent, mid range quality, and I will likely use them for outreach, or grab and go/camping. Any help identifying these would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Unknown Plossls
The silver one, depending on the angle I look, is blue/purple or green. The black ones, are all blue/purple.

Re: Unknown Plossls
Seems like a good find. The silver Plossl is of better quality, looks like SkyWatcher Plossl. The blacks are Chinese generics, but should be usable as a spare set.

Re: Unknown Plossls
The barlow was the worst piece in the lot, and full of dust. If I had to guess, going by it's condition when I got it, it was left in a focuser for many years. The scope it was in, was likely near where people, or children would pass by frequently, and fiddle with it, which eventually wore the chrome plating off the barrel. I completely disassembled it, and gave it multiple soakings in distilled water to clean it up. It looks rough, but, it's in good optical and mechanical condition. A great addition to my "I could care less" equipment ;-)Lady Fraktor wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 6:58 am That is one well used barlow with the chrome plating worn off like that.
