TS Optics HR Planetary 6mm

Post by Jones »

Always on the look out for a 6mm, thought to try one of these. Really cheap at $60eu, but $35 shipping to usa brought it up to $100. Same price as TMB planetaries cost when they came out in 2009. It is a 6 element like original, unlike most others in this housing that have 5 lenses and are just average.

This one is really good optically. My 6mm TV Delos may have been better, really hard to tell. Jupiter was too low and kind of waving around, but Saturn a little higher looked really nice. The moons of Saturn really popped out and seemed easier to see in the HR. Went back to the Delos and could see the 3 others beside Titan also.

TS has rebuilt the UWAN line of Eyepieces and they are even better and cheaper than before but only the same three 4,7,16mms.

Arizona- where the sky's are not cloudy all night.

Triple lensed fracs are so yummy when looking at planets.

Went out earlier tonite while Jupiter was straight south. There is a twisted looking knot in the north equatorial belt with a lot of fine detail. The 6mm Delos was better, but the HR was not far behind. Kind of like the difference between the Delos and the better on planets Delite.

When the TMBs came out in 2009 they were just slightly behind the TV Radians which were TVs best planetary lenses at the time. Teleskop Service has really improved this lenses series.

The UWANs started by William Optics were also about the same as Radians when they came out. With TSes revamp of this short line, 4,7,16mms, the 4mm is about the same as the Delite 4mm on the planets. 82 degrees and great planet performance this could be the perfect eyepiece. Us planetary people need every mm lenses to find best power for the nite.

The HRs provide that eyepiece spacing with performance at a great low price.
