6mm Shoot Out on Jupiter

The 6mm Players
Hutech ortho, Takahashi ortho, TV Delos
Brandon, Vixen LV.

There is a twisted looking knot in South Equatorial Belt that provided the finest detail. Scope used 10" f/4.6. 6mm's provide 195x.

And the winners are: Hutech and Tak abbe.
They looked exactly the same. Even same focus point. Did not have to adjust focus even a little while switching between the two. Same manufacturer?

The Delos was really close. It just did not have the same sharpness, clarity, contrast as the 2 porthos.

The Brandon , because of the price, thought would be near top of the line. But no the difference to the Delos was significant.

The poor Vixen LV looked like it was slightly out of focus than the others sharpness. Do not know why I still have it. It is a nice size, not too big and not too small. Think I will have to try the later model the SLV.
Arizona- where the sky's are not cloudy all night.

Triple lensed fracs are so yummy when looking at planets.

Nothing beats an ortho for tack sharp planetary and double star viewing. Forget about that wide fov stuff when viewing tiny small targets.

Useful comparison Jones. Thanks for doing this.

It is hard to beat a good ortho. :)

I am not a big fan of LVs, but SLVs are very nice EPs. They come very close to orthos in performance but with plenty of eye relief. I used to use orthos and TV Plossls for doubles, but now switched completely to SLVs.

+1 for orthos on the planets. My best views are around 200x on the 6" achro.

Interesting that the Tak' ortho was no different than the Astro Hutech (Ohi). Maybe I won't replace my Hutech ortho's with Tak's after all lol.
