Are all Forums equally set up?

It's just that some Forums/Threads/Posts initiate an email directly to me, whilst a few don't.
It's been days later when I've looked around that I've discovered folk have responded - the last one I missed
was the CCD/CMOS debate, I pulled up the sofa and sat down and replies were flying in without any mention
via notification.
Just call me Geoff....

I do what I do because I can, and because I want to.
It doesn't mean I know what I'm doing

In order to receive notifications you need to be "subscribed" to either the entire forum section or to the topic. If you only 'subscribed' to a given topic you won't receive notifications of new topics.

The subscription button is at the bottom of the forum sections if you wish to be notified of all activity on that forum section and the "subscribe to topic" is an option if you click on the little wrench at the top of the topic. That will notify you of new replies to that topic only.

Hope this helps.

Hi Gordon, the problem is exactly all those topics and Forums I am already subscribed to - I don't always see a notification (though this topic was okay :D )

It's no big worry, it's only a small number of instances. There are black holes in the www as well as across the cosmos.

p.s.

Is it possible for the notification message (when they do arrive) to also display the relevant post?

Not that I can find.

One thing I did discover is if you didn't read the post you were notified on you will not receive any further notices on that thread. Perhaps that was the issue.
