Folks posting on CN about being locked out

#1

Post by smp »

There is a topic over on CN where some folks are posting that they are locked out and clearing cookies does not work for them.
The topic is here: https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/6916 ... try9934395
In the interest of minimizing the bad PR, I suggest someone who knows about this issue and is also a member on CN could be helpful to these folks by posting information or advice in that topic.

When I registered to CN, I wrote a single introductory post (like: "Hi, I'm Steve, happy to be here, folks!") and then I got BANNED immediately. I have never got answer from the admins to my complaints about it.
Told to myself, whatta hell, registered again with another nickname. Haven't introduced myself, haven't gotten banned this time around, either :-P
But I'm more like a passive reader over there because too many people have a too high "excitation level" to my taste.

I think there is a mis-understanding. Folks are posting on CN about not being able to log into TSS.

Indeed! Please do not make this another complain-about-CN thread. Folks are posting on CN that they've been locked out of TSS, and I'm concerned that TSS will get bad PR from that. If someone who knows how to fix the login issue (I have not had this issue with my Mac and Safari) can go over and make posts to assist those folks, or send PMs to them with assistance, that would be great.

Yes, they have already been well and truly bashed thanks to my rant. This is an opportunity to be nice instead and help CN members who can't log in here. The important thing to communicate is that the problem has been fixed here, and hopefully won't recur, but users still have to manage to find a way back here by clearing things on their end.

Stephen, I am sending PMs to Bruce and John right now. Thanks for the heads up, sir!

EDIT: smp Stephen, I've sent PM's to both Bruce and John and have added a post to the thread. I hope I was playing within the CN TOS on that. Please feel free to tweak my post if necessary.

Thanks very much, Bryan!
Hopefully, this will solve the issue for those folks. I certainly don’t want TSS to get any negative PR if at all possible.
Yeah, dancing around the perception of inviting folks to another site, but at least so far I think it’s been seen as just advice.
PMs were the right way to go.

Hi,
I still am not able to log in using Chrome. I cleared my browser cookies and I still got an invalid form. I am logging in with IE now. Is there a way to get chrome to work?

Stuart, you really gotta dig in and search out the specific TSS cookies in Chrome. Should be about 15 or so in there. Just delete all those under the TSS heading in the list of cookies, close the browser and bring it back up. See what that does for you. :)
