Has TSS become excruciatingly slow?

#1

Post by SkyHiker »

At first I though it was just my Android that was broken but now on my PC as well. I used to get the TSS pages instantly but now it can take 1 minute or 5 minutes of waiting until I get a page. I saw the top banner refresh excruciatingly slowly, it took 5 minutes or so before it started working on the page. Pages sometimes don't download completely and just show a few topics. Is it just my system or are there more people who noticed this?

No trouble here Henk, Android or laptop. Time to bleed the extra ether out of your wireless connection? :)

OK, so maybe you want to run a speed test and see how your Internet connection is behaving today as a next step.

No problems here Henk.

I used to be a Windows user for a few years and web surfing was usually quite slow anyway for a lot of the time, even on quite a fast PC. It used to drive me nuts.

I now use a MacBook Pro which loads everything so much faster, web pages and programs.

I sometimes notice the odd website takes a while to load a page, but I try another site and if that loads okay I know it's not my connection that's having issues.

Well, I'm not one to brag Tom. I'm quite a humble person really (as you know), so I just tell it as I find it

For me, speed really does matter (at least as far as computing goes anyway) ;)

Hi Henk. The only time that I have a problem with the forum being slow is sometimes when Gordon is putting up the new TSS APOD Award winner's image in the mid/late afternoon hours, for my time here in Florida. I look at the portal, and can see the new winner's image filling in, as this takes some time. After that loads, everything is back to normal. And this usually happens when I haven't been on that thread yet, and have no record or cache on my computer of that image. Some of us did have a problem with SQL Errors on the forum a couple of weeks ago, but Gordon jumped on this quickly and fixed it too. Everything looks good as of today Henk.

That's what we're here for Henk

A problem shared is a problem halved. At least it eliminated one possible cause that it wasn't TSS as the cause in this instance.

Friends are here to help, so you have nothing to apologise for.

I had an Xfinity slowdown yesterday Henk which caused some loading problems (also noticed on a few other sites I frequent) it lasted about 1.5 hours and then things returned to normal.

Henk,

I was going to say "hold your horses" because I'm having the same problem on both my platforms too. Now I'll just do what you just did to see if it makes a difference.
