Need to sign in repeatedly over short period of time

#1

Post by STEVE333 »

This morning I turned on my computer and logged into TSS. I went to AP Photos/Deep Sky Objects. I opened one of the posts, used Quote, and, composed a response. When i clicked on Submit I was sent back to the Sign-In.

I Signed-in again, but, the same problem occurred several times.

I even closed TSS and then reopened it, but, that didn't resolve the problem.

I have noticed this same problem in the past, but, it seems to be getting more persistent.

Any ideas?

PS: This post went through with no problems. (THIS IS AN EDIT)

Hi Steve,

Sorry for the problems.

I'm not seeing anything in the logs that indicate a problem on this end. My suggestion would be to check the 'Remember Me" box the next time you log in. That should keep you logged into the forum constantly.

Thanks Richard - I am using Windows 10, and, always check the Remember Me box.

I'm on the latest version of FireFox, Win 10 computer. Also run a Linux computer, Ipad and Iphone (Safari) and I'm not having any issues with getting kicked out on any of them.

Let's see if anyone else responds with having a problem or perhaps has a suggestion to remedy the problem.

I assume you are not having problems with other forums?

Just for some background. I also double checked the 'cookie' settings and the .htacess file. Both are correct and working they should.

I haven't been posting on any other forums recently. However, I don't remember this happening in the past.

Thanks for checking. My two most recents responses to threads have not had any problem.

Just FYI - I've had to sign-in three times in the last 10 minutes. The problem comes and goes, but, apparently never leaves.

I've always had the remember me box ticked but have this last week or so had to log in again twice. I'm thinking it might have been because I was back paging to much rather than going up and selecting " todays posts " ? Its just a thought. Phill

The only time I have to sign back in is when McAfee cleans out my cookies every so often. I didn't ask it to, but like other software these days, it seems to have a mind of it's own.

Now where did I put that ax?????

For what it's worth, if you have (1) your browser set in any moderate to extreme privacy (or incognito) modes or (2) your antivirus/endpoint protection set on high enough to prevent (or delete) the cookies that the website's forum software uses to keep you logged in. Back in the day I set up and ran a phpBB forum and occasionally I had users that ran into the same problem. The solution is on the user side, usually tweaks to loosen up their security settings.
