Hello from Colorado

Interests
Astronomy - mirror making (lots) - photography and old VWs
History:
Roughly 1990 and later- I made the early mirrors for Starmaster. I was able to core out two 7.1" blanks at a time from 3/4" thick plate glass. I ended up with 4 blanks to work on. I made almost 100 7.1" mirrors which wasn't what you'd call lucrative. Doing 12s and 14s made more sense. I also made mirrors for Teeters Telescopes
Additionally there were a lot of folks that had undercorrected Coulter dob mirrors that needed refiguring. I enjoyed turning bad mirrors into good ones, but frustrating when the glass was poorly annealed.
Occupation
Now ? A senior citizen.

I find that fascinating. Welcome to The Sky Searchers. I would love to see snapshots of your shop. (Anyone can snap the stars. God made those. God doesn't make mirrors.) I have long held to a quote that I read in The Whole Earth Catalog about 1971 or so that in the old days, when a machinist applied for work, the foreman wanted to see the toolbox, not for what was purchased but for what was made. It's beyond me, but I appreciate what it means.
