Hello from Melbourne (Not in Florida)

#1

Post by Bowlerhat »

Was a former member of astronomyforum.net until I hear the plug of the migration here. :text-thankyoublue:

Since Covid started I have directed more attention to astronomy (again). I'm interested in portable setups and visual observations, and I like to use and collect vintage scopes (mainly Vixens) but also others. I like to use mix of both vintage OTAs with modern mount setup and kinda of inbetween for best of both worlds. My main eyepieces are kind of random, since I still use a mix of 0.965" orthos with modern 1.25" eps. I dipped my toes into astrophotography before, but tide shifted more towards visual still.

:Astronomer1:

haven't updated my profile yet, but the list of my scopes is here:

Hi Mark! Thanks, I think I have acute Fracitis. Thankfully it's not aperture fever stage yet. And that's true..I still miss AF sometimes. Good times.

It's a bit of mixed list though-some already gone, some stored. Since I don't really have a main scope I just rotate them inbetween.
I'm fuzzy on the details on that one, why again? Suddenly I wanna log in and bam! it's gone! What happened?

If you are asking what happened at AF.net, it was overrun by spambots when the owner went MIA and no upgrades/ fixes could be done.

Hello Bowlerhat.

AF lost control of the spammers so the Moderators started this place and put good solid spam control in place!

Welcome to The Sky Searchers Forum.

I found it weird that he just went MIA, totally. sad.
