Back for 2020 season

#1

Post by Ken_nneth »

Finally got my “mini” observatory set up for the season. It has been a crazy summer, no possibility of foreign travel, crazy number of fellow countrymen vacationing in Norway instead of Greece or Spain. Spent 3 weeks traveling around in our “Travel Van” visiting some great city camps and country campsites. Crossed one of the highest mountains and travel under others, longest tunnel was 24.5km. Now I have now parked the camper and getting ready for my “star season”. Glad to be back.

Kenneth, it sounds as though you have had an interesting summer and welcome back.
I claim Norway as my ancestral homeland. On my grandfather Carlsen's side both of his parents came from Norway. His father was from the Blaker area northeast of Oslo and his mother side was from Royken, southwest of Oslo. My great great grandfather' Olas Johnson left his Royken home at age 15 to become a sailor. Within 14 years he had become a captain of a ship and had sailed far. Both sides of my grandfather Carlsen's family ended up migrating to the United States in the mid 1860's.
One of my goals is to visit Norway and the areas that my linage is from...
