Google Translate.

We have just added a new feature. Google translate.

Since we wish to make it easy for all of our members to enjoy TSS, we added a feature that will translate the forum to other languages. So if Dutch, French, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish, or Turkish is your native language it may be easier to select that Language from the drop down and the board will convert to it. If you want to change back just click on the "Show original" button at the top of the page.

That's great!
I always have to translate everything I write myself.

And if nFA posts anything, I'm lost anyway, so... :?

Translating is significantly easier when the Google Translate extension is actually installed. Now that it is, it's easy peasy.

Nice feature !

Once in a while we (might) get someone posting in a language different from English. Is it possible to translate those posts to English as well?

Just highlight the text and right-click. The translate option is in the list of choices.

I need some detail on this. That is not one of the options I see using Firefox when I highlight text and right-click. I suspect it is browser-specific and/or there may need to be some feature turned on in each individuals browser. May I ask which browser you are running?

Bob

Edit - did a bit more poking and found a Firefox add-on to include Google Translate. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ho ... re-firefox

Different browsers have different inherent features. To the best of my knowledge, Firefox and chrome do not have a right-click translate feature by default, however you can add on as a 'add-on" https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ho ... re-firefox and you can add it to chrome by the same method. I haven't tried it on all of the different browsers, but I would assume most have some sort of add on.

I just realized that the Google Translate toolbar included in the forum can be used to translate posts in other languages to English as well (if your browser does not natively support translation).

For example on this thread
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=645

you can first use the Google translate toolbar to translate the whole page to Russian. On doing this, the "English" option shows up in the Google translate toolbar and you retranslate the page back to English. Now you can see the original Russian content in English.

This has to be done once per page of the thread. Works for me on Firefox.
