Thanks Thefatkitty and Greenman

Twitter land is full of backyard astronomers like us that don't know about forums, Especially a great one like ours.
The more we spread the word, the better.
Call it technological outreach if you like :D

Forums are dying with the advent of social media. I've been a longtime moderator of a bodybuilding forum and we've gone from hundreds of posts an hour to maybe 10 a day.

I prefer the forums format myself and very happy that the team here does such a wonderful job keeping this one going.

I will have to check out the TSS Twitter account where I voice my political opinions without retribution from the relatives. :D

I have never learned how to Twitter, and have never had motivation to. However, if the TSS Twitter account takes off, I may have to revise that.

Yes, plenty of astro stuff! Take a look at our page and see.
I like twitter since I can follow the scientists involved in a favourite astronomy project and get updates as they post them. Like getting the story before the media does.
There are plenty of them in observatories and on projects around the world that tweet all sorts of juicy stuff.
Only major hurdle is the limited characters allowed per tweet. So they have to be short and sweet.
Eyeballs, binoculars, sketch box, Scopes n stuff.
Some people don't understand why I love astronomy so much, I cannot understand why they do not!

I recall now I did have an account but closed it maybe 8 years ago.

I used to follow the NASA probes :) They were actually very humourous, but they were cut from the budget :(
That's when I quit, I liked the robots LOL

I think I will give it another try.

Are folks using there real names or their TSS names?

Personally, I just used my handle from here when I signed up today. I should take a look at the astro stuff too; as long as I ignore the politicians I should be good ;)

Yeah, that's my problem with Twitter, (and FB) it's not moderated.

I don't have a strong stomach LOL

Choose who you follow wisely.
Most astro folks steer clear of politics anyhow. If they do post a lot of political trash I just unfollow.
You have the choice.
